Character Intros for Instagram
I acted as one of two motion designers for the social media marketing and content creation of season one of Industry on HBO.
I personally designed the original template for the below video. The concept was to have a bite-sized character introduction that began as a graphic resembling a corporate ID card. The clean image would glitch out, revealing clips of the messier aspects of their lives while also showing the intense work environment they inhabited. Seven of these videos were created.
Mid-season Character Highs and Lows
Halfway through the season, we did a check in on all of the characters. Working in finance we decided it was appropriate to match their best and worse moments to the highs and low of the stock market. Design and animation of all assets created by yours truly. These were done for all of the characters. The video below is a curated sampling of those assets.
Finspo Instagram Posts
“Fin-spo” is a hashtag used on social media, short for “Finance inspiration”. The finance sector is filled with people who live for their career, and that trickles over to their lives online. Under this hashtag you can often find motivational sayings and truth-isms meant to inspire. We created our own series of these, with dialogue from the characters serving as motivational statements. The motif of “glitching out” is also present in these videos. A theme used in this campaign to signal that the characters are being ripped apart by their intense work environment. All of the designs and animations were created by me.
Bites of Bad Behavior
This in-season content series titled “Bites of Bad Behavior” highlights scenes in which the show’s characters were not a their most professional. Needing to let off steam after such tense and grueling days working on the market floor, they often misbehave. The videos begin with a freeze frame and snippet of dialogue with added stylization. The video then comes to life, breaking the still moment and leading into a scene from the show. Design and animation created the person whose website this is.
