I had the exciting opportunity to lead the art direction for the campaign photoshoot for Bomba’s 2024 Pride Collection.
As a member of the queer community I wanted to use my own lived experience to lend an air of authenticity and credibility to this campaign. It was important to me to have diversity in our models, as that would represent both the diversity seen within the wider LGBTQ+ community, as well as this campaign’s celebration of inclusivity. In order to attain my vision for the shoot I also strongly felt we needed at least one model with visible tattoos, we needed jewelry, and we needed a “looser-fit” styling of the wardrobe. The background color was decided on based on the seasonal campaigns that had come before it as well as the desire to match the vintage palette of the product to a more vibrantly colored backdrop. The original concept behind the shoot was “The Queer Art of Sitting”. It is a joke commonly seen online that queer people don’t like to (or don’t know how to) sit in chairs correctly. I decided to use this self-deprecating inside joke as inspiration to collect swipe of unconventional sitting poses. While a lot of the poses we shot came from this concept, some product focused shots were added that didn’t quite fit the framework. Overall I’m very happy with how this campaign turned out, and I was proud to see my ideas grow from concept to reality.
